The Morris Major:
|
| The Morris Major is essentially the same car as the Lancer, but with very minor cosmetic differences. The most significant of these differences is the front grill. On this page are a a number of images of Morris Majors, including a Series I, an advertisement for a Series II Morris Major and postcard, several photographs of Series IIs contributed by others, and finally two Morris Major models that are made by Weico. The images on this page show changes that were made to the Major over the several years they were produced. The early Series IIs had a radiator grill that resemble that on the Series I and the two tone paint horizontally divided the top and bottom halves. On the later models, the grill changed to horizontal bars that almost traverse the entire width of the car, and the contrasting colour is found only only on the rear fins and a portion of the rear doors (compare the photos.

| This image was kindly contributed by Gerry Weight of Weico Models, and is copyright to him. Gerry developed this model of the Morris Major in 1999. Approximately 350 of these models in four colours were produced and were released as Kookaburra Series KS012. Gerry's page can be found by clicking HERE. In developing this model, Gerry referred to reprints of Wheels road tests of the Major, original sales brochure and articles in Restored Cars and Australian Classic Car magazine, as well as photographs he took of a Morris Major Elite. |
